Body Awareness & Self Regulation: Self Holds (5 mins)

In this 5 minute guided practice, Charlotte lovingly introduces you to 5 self-holds you can use anytime you need a quick dose of embodied awareness. 

Self-holding is one of the foundational practices in Somatic Experiencing and other somatic therapy modalities. Many therapists teach this practice to their clients to develop the ability to "self-regulate" - which is our amazing human ability to bring ourselves back into a state of calm & safety when our nervous system is abuzz with stress, tension, fear or anxiety. 

Self-holds give you a powerful way to return back to your body, your breath, your experience of the present moment. Once you are familiar with these self-holds, you can use them anytime you need a moment of self-love and compassion.
